Weekly Coach Check-In: August 14th, 2012

Hey TeamInternallyFit,

The Olympics have ended this week, and I have really enjoyed the competition, and I love to hear the stories of dedication and sacrifice that it takes to perform at such high levels of competition.  I heard Lolo Jones, the American hurdler, interviewed after losing the 100 meter relay and she said something that stuck with me, “I’ve trained 4 years to compete for 12 seconds”.  Now that’s commitment!!

Other than these brief moments in the spotlight every 4 years, most of these athletes train in relative obscurity, day in and day out, demanding their bodies to get better, stronger, and faster.  They have something inside them that pushes them to be the best.  Seeing these athletes Bring It and Dig Deep inspires me to ask the same of myself.  You don’t become a success unless you are willing to work harder than everyone else.  Like Body Beast creator Sagi Kalev says, “Whatever it takes!!”  You have to want it.

While we may not be competing for Olympic gold, we all have goals in our health and fitness.  Maybe it’s to get in better shape or lose a few pounds.  Maybe it’s a shredded 6 pack.  Maybe it’s to get off diabetes meds / heart meds / cholesterol meds.  Maybe it’s to perform better at a sport.  Maybe you’re just tired of living with pain and fatigue.  We all have goals.  And those goals won’t just happen without hard work and discipline.  I encourage you to be inspired by these men and woman who have dedicated themselves to be the best.  Then get out there and be your own Success Story!

New on this week:

1.) Why Vegan Shakeology? This article suggests 10 reasons why you should be drinking chocolate vegan shakeology.  The health benefits of a plant-based diet are well documented—from lower cholesterol and lower risk for heart disease, cancer, and diabetes, to easier weight management and fewer digestive issues.

2.) Wait TimeBelieve it or not if you’re eating until you feel full, then you’re probably eating too many calories.  In this article read how long it takes your body to recognize the food you just ate and how to use wait time to lose weight.

3.) HydrateLearn the best drink to have when you need to replenish your body and know the ones to avoid that can only make it worse.

Weekly Health Tip:

Nectarines are members of the stone-fruit family and are at their peak during the summer.  They are a good source of beta-cryptozanthin, an antioxidant that helps prevent and manage arthritis, and like most fruit, they provide high-quality carbohydrates and are made up of mostly water, making them a good addition to a weight-loss plan.

And 2 favors that I ask:
1) If you like the hard work I put into writing my articles and videos, PLEASE help me out by sharing them. Click the share links below them and share them on FB, twitter, etc.  It really helps me get more exposure and grow TeamInternallyFit!
2) Also, remember that the way I benefit from being your coach is that I earn a commission from any Beachbody products that you purchase, as long as you buy them through my site,, (If you buy from the plain Beachbody site I get no credit). It helps with the amount of time I spend answering all your questions and helping you out. Thank you! I really appreciate it!
