Why Set Goals?

Goal setting is used by professional athletes, successful business-people, high achievers and those that have lost tremendous amounts of weight.  Setting goals gives you long-term vision and short-term motivation. It give you focus and helps you to organize your time and your resources so that you can make the very most of your life and your health.  If you don’t set goals for yourself you’re only setting up for failure!

By setting realistic, clearly defined goals, you can find satisfaction and take pride in achieving those goals, and you’ll see forward progress in what might previously have seemed a long pointless grind. As you reach each goal you will raise your self confidence and recognize your own ability to overcome adversity and achieve the goals you set.

Starting to Set Personal Goals

You set your goals on a number of levels:

  • First you create your “big picture” of what you want to do with your healthy and fitness (How do you want to look 5 years, 10 years, etc. ), and identify how you want to achieve this goal.
  • Then, you break these down into the smaller and smaller targets that you must hit to reach your lifetime goals. ( weight goal in 3 months, 6 months, etc.)
  • Finally, once you have your plan, you start working on it to achieve these goals.

You should always start with a lifetime goal and then, work down to the things that you can do in, say, the next year, next month, next week, and today, to start moving towards them.  Get back in shape, eating right and working out everyday is TOUGH!!  Nobody ever said it would be easy, but it is POSSIBLE.  Set your goals and do whatever it take to reach them.  I tried for years to just “go through the motions” and it got me no where.  When I set goals and decided to work towards them each day, it gave me purpose and focus and I have great results because of it.

Below is a recent video of Carl Diekler, CEO of Beachbody, being interviewed on FOX.  He is a great example of a man with a person and a goal of helping others end the trend of obesity in America.  After watching it I can truly say I honored to be a Team Beachbody Coach.  Decide, Commit, Succeed.
