Life Changing

Throughout my life there have been few life changing events.  The first one that comes to mind is the salvation I received from my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at the age of 16.  Next, I would say getting married and the birth of my two daughters have brought tremendous joy to my life.  Another life changing moment would have to be the day that I started P90XI mention P90X because it not only changed the way that I exercised, it also completely changed the way I eat and the way I look at food for that matter.  After starting P90X I began to lose weight that I had struggled with for over 10 years.  I began to see changes in my attitude and the way I felt.  I started to realize that after years of feeling like I was falling apart and just getting older, I started feeling better, younger and more durable.

I’ve done things after starting P90X that I thought I would never do, like working out in my house at 4:30 A.M.!!!  I never thought I could stay motivated and workout at home, I would have to go to the gym.  Not anymore!!  P90X helps keep me motivated and with the routines changing so often I never get bored and the results keep coming.  I’ve used P90x to lose over 30 lbs and later I used it to gain 9 lbs of muscle.  P90X and other Beachbody workouts like Insanity, The Asylum, P90X Plus and Tony Horton’s 1 on 1 series have allowed me to stay focused on my health and inspired me to push play everyday.

Since starting P90X in March of 2009, I have started to paying closer attention to the foods that I eat because now I know how important food is for overall health and fitness.  Working out with P90X not only the right kinds of foods to eat but also how to eat them in the right portions.  I went from eating 3 large meals a day to eating 5, 6 even 7 meals a day.  That will never work, its too much!  Well, it worked and I love it.  I don’t get hungry and my metabolism runs constantly to keep my weight right where I want it. P90X and my Christian faith have inspired me to help others with their health and fitness problems, that’s why I decided to become a Beachbody coach and start  It gives me a platform to share my faith in Jesus Christ, as well as to motivate people to beginning their own fitness journey.  I believe that God intended us to live long, healthy lives and according to his word, “treat our bodies a living sacrifice”.  That’s hard to do when we eat junk food and sodas and our bodies are run down and falling apart.

One of the drawbacks to my new life style change has to be the way people perceive me now, even in my own family.  When you eat pretty much what you want your entire life and then make a 180 degree turn around it not only effects you, it effects others around you.  I think part of the reason is that people are not used to seeing you like that, eating healthy I mean.  They are used to the overweight, out of shape guy that used to eat everything in sight.  Now you eat crazy food like, fruits, vegetables, salads, yogurt, tofu, protein bars, broccoli, spinach, drink water and shakeology, you know, weird stuff like that.  People make comments like, “You’re too skinny”.  Just for the record I weight 190 with 7 % body fat, which is what I used to weight in my younger days when everybody thought I was “huge”.  “You’re crazy for eating food like that” is another favorite of mine.  The last time I heard that my response was I think they are crazy for eating the science experiments they get at Wendy’s or McDonald’s.  The one thing I have noticed is that people who have not seen me in awhile tend to make the negative comments where as people that I meet after I lost 70 lbs tend to make positive comments.

People around me also know that I eat healthy and they will ask questions or make comments.  No offense but the negative comments about what I eat usually come from fat, over weight people.  Its true, I think its their way to make themselves feel better about their own health problems.  The question I always got a lot in the beginning was, “how did you lose all that weight?”  My response is always the same, if you want to lose the weight and keep it off for good, then you need to make a life style change starting with a proper diet.  I say it all the time, your weight loss is 70% nutrition and 30% exercise, but for some reason people want to reverse it and don’t get the results they were looking for and end up quitting.

Most people aren’t ready to make a life change like I did and I’m o.k. with that, just as long as they stop sitting around complaining about how sick they are or how bad they feel.  If you’re not willing to make a positive change in your eating habits, it only gets worse.  My life definealty changed after starting P90X and it changed for the BETTER!!
