The Perfect Day

Everyday brings a new set of challenges: work, family and daily responsibilities.  That’s why everyday I try to find something positive in everything that I do.  I often her people say, “It’s Monday, I wish Friday were here” or “The weekends are too short, I have to go to work on Monday”.  Don’t live your life for just two days of the week, life is too short.  Enjoy everyday that you have with your family and friends.  Find some reason to make it a great day, not one that you dread.  We all have the power to choose our reaction to difficult situations, your positive attitude will make everything and everyone around you better.

I’ve come up with a list of thing that if I can accomplish them everyday then Ill consider it a successful day.

1.) Sleep.  My perfect day starts with the night before.  If I get 6-1/2 to 7 hours of sleep, I’m revved up and ready to hit the ground running.  Most people will need more, but for me that seems to be enough.

2.) Working Out.  Like you didn’t know this was going to be on the list.  My workouts affect all aspects of my life. Mind, body, spirit, and beyond.  I start everyday at 4:30 A.M. with P90x, Body BeastInsanity, The Asylum or a combination of all three.  It gets my day started off right and I feel great throughout the day.  When you workout that early in the morning you have no excuses and no distractions.

3.) Whole Foods.  Fruits, veggies, whole grains, lean protein, and healthy fats provide the fuel I need for a perfect day.  I eat a clean diet because it fuels my workouts, gives me energy throughout the day and keeps me from getting sick.

4.) Supplements. They assist me with recovering from workouts and provide energy for the next one.  I don’t take alot of supplements, but the ones I take are very important.  In the morning after breakfast and at night after supper I take a multi vitamin.  When you split them up it gives your body what it needs throughout the entire day.  I also take 2 cod liver oil pills because they are packed with vitamin D.

5.) Attitude. The more time I spend asking questions to find solutions in life, the more exciting life becomes. Focus on what works, not on what doesn’t.  When you wake up in the morning find a reason to have a great attitude, your day will go smoother because of it.

6.) Hobbies. Find something you love to do.  From collecting baseball cards to coin collecting, hobbies can provide great friendships and tremendous personal growth.  For me, being a Beachbody coach and maintaining this website have been great motivation for me.  The longer I write these post the more I enjoy doing it and helping others reach their fitness goals.

7.) Charity.  Whether it’s helping a friend or working with youth at church, when you put the focus on others, you’ll find contentment and happiness.  Try to do something nice for someone today without being asked.

8.) Quite Time. Turn off the tube and breathe.  Spend more time with your wife/husband and kids. Read, pray, or exchange ideas with people you love.  Part of my day is to have a quite time.  During this time I like to read my Bible, a devotion and pray.

If I can fit all of this in one day I feel like I have really accomplished something.  Its a simple plan, but it will allow you to find balance and strength in a world that always seems out of control.  What is your “perfect” day?
