My Pita Salad

Follow Me on PinterestPin It

I make my pita salad anytime, but especially when I’m pressed for time.  I’ve made, eaten and been out the door in less than 10 minutes with the recipe.

What you need:

Joseph’s Whole Wheat Pita Bread (Wal-mart) or  Whole grain tortilla (Shown)

Organic spinach (Market side – Walmart)

Kraft fat free cheese (sometimes I will mix with Mozzarella)

Low fat honey mustard (Newman’s Own – Walmart)

Chopped up cucumber and bell peppers

Topped with black bean and corn salsa. (Market side – Walmart)

I also will put a few jalapeno peppers on as well.

Very delicious and easy to make.  Remember changing the ingredients will change the nutritional values, but I suggest you add any HEALTHY ingredients you like.

Why is this good for you?

Whole grain bread = loaded with fiber (slows your sugar absorption and makes you feel fuller)

Spinach= The phytonutrients in spinach make it a powerful opponent of several types of cancer along with cardiovascular and inflammatory diseases.

Contains Vitamin K, B2, B6, C, E ,K, Magnesium, B9, calcium, Potassium, phosphorus, Zinc, selenium, Omega-3 fatty acids and fiber.  The fiber will leave you feeling fuller.  Spinach improves your digestion and lowers cholesterol.  The selenium will keep your metabolism humming to help contribute to weight loss.  Spinach is also hign in protein.  WOW, I should eat this every meal.

Bell Peppers=filled with antioxidants, helps prevent cancer, diseases related to aging and they boost immune system.  Peppers are thermogenic, meaning they increase your body’s heat production, which helps burn extra calories.  Also, high in fiber.

Shew!!! Just trust me. IT’S GOOD FOR YOU!!!!
