Weekly Coach Check-In: February 19th, 2012

Hey TeamInternallyFit,

I hope everyone had a great Valentine’s Day and it didn’t include too many of those tiny little chocolate pieces.  I have to admit I had a few myself, but not enough to get me off track.

I’m into my second week of the Strength Phase of P90X2, and it’s AWESOME!  I remember when I first sampled these workouts, I thought some of these exercises were not going to get me the same results I had gotten with P90X, for instance, performing curls while standing on one leg.  I couldn’t do nearly as much weight while standing on one leg because it required a lot of balance and I was forced to lower the weight.  Well, after a month in Foundation, where I had to do curls on one legin a half-squatting position, it literally seemed EASY to do curls while standing straight up on one leg last week during Shoulders and Arms.  I was doing the same weight as I used on the original P90X Shoulders and Arms standing on 2 feet.  My balance and strength have continued to increased, which really surprised me.  This program is amazing.

So how do I compare P90X Chest and Back to P90X2 Chest Back and Balance = consider that in the X version, you have 6 sets of pull-ups along with non pull-up exercises like heavy pants, lawnmowers, and back flys.  With X2, there are 10 back exercises in the workout — every one of them on the pull-up bar, and every pull-up move is more difficult and advanced than what you might be used to from P90X.  These strength workouts are intense!  The X2 Base and Back alternates between pull-ups and plyometric jumping — talk about a tough workout!  I wanted to hit the pause button to catch my breath SO BAD, but I knew I made the commitment to keep pushing.  I was complete jello at the end of that one and had to take a knee for a few seconds before the cool down.  I can’t wait to get to day 90 and see the results!

Don’t forget the links to order the new Tropical Shakeology went live.  If you missed the details on Tropical Shakeology, be sure you my article with all the info you’ll need.  It has the order links at the top.  AFTER I get the box of individual packets that I ordered, I will add a “Tropical” option to the Shakeology request form.  My samples are scheduled to be here around the first of March.

New on this week:

1.) Tropical Strawberry Shakeology:  On Valentine’s day Tropical shakeology went on sale.  What makes Tropical different from Chocolate and Greenberry?  It’s Vegan.  Part of making Tropical Shakeology completely VEGAN means finding unique (and expensive) protein alternatives to whey isolate.  Beachbody has secured the absolute best protein blend, from entirely plant sources, to make Tropical Shakeology.   I will have Tropical samples around March 5th.

2.) Does 10 Minute Trainer Work? :  10 minutes?  Are you kidding?  How can you get a sufficient workout in just 10 minutes?   With Tony Horton’s nutrition plan and his workouts broken down into 10 minute segments you will lose the weight you want in just 10 minutes.

3.) Break the Weight loss Plateau. :  We’ve all reached the dreaded plateau.  So, how do you overcome this workout dilemma?  Read more to find out.

4.) Routines and Habits:  What’s the difference from a routine and a habit?  How can you get from your workout just being a part of your daily routine to it becoming a habit that you never miss?  Read “Routines and Habits” to find out.

5.) Don’t Skip Breakfast!! : We know it’s the most important meal of the day, so why do a majority of Americans skip it.  Find out why you should never skip breakfast and some quick and easy breakfast alternatives.

Weekly Health Tip:  Cocoa powder is the antioxidant-rich component of chocolate.  Antioxidants called flavanols may help reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and arthritis and slow age-related memory loss.  Unsweetened cocoa powder is a healthy yet indulgent addition to pancakes, muffins, and beverages. I like to use Hershey’s Unsweetened Cocoa powder.

And 2 favors that I ask:

1) If you like the hard work I put into writing my articles and videos, PLEASE help me out by sharing them. Click the share links below them and share them on FB, twitter, etc.  It really helps me get more exposure and grow TeamInternallyFit!

2) Also, remember that the way I benefit from being your coach is that I earn a commission from any Beachbody products that you purchase, as long as you buy them through my site,, (If you buy from the plain Beachbody site I get no credit). It helps with the amount of time I spend answering all your questions and helping you out. Thank you! I really appreciate it!
