Weekly Coach Check-In: September 11th, 2012

Hey TeamInternallyFit,

I don’t know about you, but I’m very excited about the start of football season.  College, NFL, it doesn’t matter, I really enjoy rooting for the underdog, watching a team come from behind or just witness two great teams “duke it out!”  I coached high school football for 17 years and since I stop after the 2009 season to spend more time with family, I have just recently got interested in watching football again.

But with football season comes game day parties at a friend’s house, where the food of choice is pizza with soda.  Then, there are the tailgate parties with BBQ ribs, hamburgers and hot dogs.  Don’t give in, stay focused and don’t let a few hours of fun turn into a disaster for your health and the results you’ve worked so hard for.  It’s easy to fall back into your old eating habits.  Don’t let it happen, you deserve to be healthy, feel great and look younger than everybody else.  Don’t be like the others who spend most of their time eating junk food and pouring sodas down their throats.

“After my husband was injured in Afghanistan and became a C4 quadriplegic, I gave up my career to become his caretaker, 24/7. I have been stressed to the max caring for him, my son, and my self – in that order. I got up to 155 pounds and a size 12.

Weekly Health Tip:

Macadamia nuts:  According to Australian scientists, men with high cholesterol who ate 12 to 16 macadamia nuts a day raised their HDL (good) cholesterol levels by 8%.  Macadamia nuts contain the highest amount of monounsaturated fat of all nuts and are also a good source of zinc.
