Weekly Coach Check-In: January 8th, 2013

Hey TeamInternallyFit,

I’m sitting here watching the College Football National Championship and I can’t help but wonder.  We’re one week into 2013 and are you feeling like Alabama or Notre Dame?  Are you crushing your workouts everyday and dialing into a great nutrition plan expecting to get great results?  Or are you just talking about getting in shape and making a healthy lifestyle change only to hide behind a long list of excuses?  I have another question, If the other 51 weeks this year were like the first, then how successful would you be?

I decided a long time ago I would no longer make New Year’s resolutions.  Why?  The main reason is that resolutions are associated with failure; close to 75% of people will have broken their resolutions by March.  This usually happens within a month or two, many of those who started with good intentions will already be M.I.A.  Good intentions and that initial adrenaline rush don’t last once you get sore, tired, hungry, and the junk food is sitting in front of you.  Commitment and community are what it takes to stick with it

You have to get support to stick with it when it gets tough.  You need accountability.  That’s what teaminternallyfit is here for.

WEEKLY HEALTH TIP: Cherries are members of the stone-fruit family and are in season in the summer.  They are a good source of beta-carotene and anthocyanins, antioxidants found many fruits that help prevent and manage arthritis, cataracts, macular degeneration, and memory loss, as well as maintain healthy hair and skin..  Like most fruit, cherries also contain high-quality carbohydrates and are made up of mostly water, making them a good addition to a weight-loss program.
