Weekly Coach Check-In: June 17th, 2014

Hey TeamInternallyFit,

This is a HUGE week in the life of a Beachbody coach like myself . . . this is Summit week!!! Each year in June Beachbody holds it’s annual summit meeting where thousands of coaches from around the country get together to train, meet, greet and find out the latest products from Beachbody.

So, what does that mean for you if you’re not a coach? It means that you need to be checking back often to find out some of the NEW products introduced this year. In the past it’s been everything from a new shakeology flavor to new workouts like Body Beast and T25.

One of the new programs I know is coming this week is PIYO. Chalene Johnson took the very best Pilates- and yoga-inspired moves and cranked up the speed to give you full-throttle cardio, strength, and flexibility training—all at once. PiYo packs it ALL into each workout so you can build lean muscle mass—as you’re burning crazy calories.

I’ll keep you posted as I hear more coming out of summit.

Here’s some great news about improvements to shakeology, recently Beachbody made a few tweaks to their vegan shakes that you’re absolutely going to love.

For starters, Chocolate Vegan Shakeology now has more cocoa for an even more intense chocolate flavor. Then they added sweet and tangy guava to Tropical Strawberry Vegan, which really adds a bold tropical punch to the palate.

Beachbody also added GMO-free oat protein to their original vegan protein blend of pea and rice, making the texture and consistency of their vegan shakes incredibly smooth and creamy. Plus, oat protein is a nutritious protein source that’s rich in essential amino acids (including leucine, isoleucine, and lysine). 

Now both Chocolate Vegan and Tropical Strawberry Vegan Shakeology use organic agave fruit powder which is a wholesome, non-GMO ingredient that adds the perfect amount of sweetness. Although Shakeology was originally very low in sugar, this upgrade also lowered both the total sugar content slightly as well as its carbs.

As with most fruit, agave contains fructose and has the added benefit of being naturally high in inulin, a prebiotic fiber, which supports digestive health. So now that our vegan shakes have both agave AND yacon root, they’re even better at supporting healthy digestion. And unlike many of the cheaper sources of agave on the market that use low-quality materials and are enzymatically treated (similar to high fructose corn syrup processing) the organic agave used in Shakeology is naturally extracted without enzymes or chemical additives.

So why would you want to drink a vegan shake? Here’s why…

Replacing animal proteins with plant-based proteins helps you:

WEEKLY HEALTH TIP: Chia seeds (yes, the same ones in your chia pet) are high in soluble fiber that creates a gel in the stomach when exposed to liquid, thus slowing down the digestive process of carbohydrates and reducing the spike in blood sugar after a meal. Chia seeds are also high in protein and antioxidants.
