Weekly Coach Check-In: February 24th, 2015

Hey TeamInternallyFit,

Wow! Can you believe it’s almost March!  I don’t know about where you live, but here the weather outside has been pretty miserable.  This time of year I’m so thankful that I don’t have to get ready and head to a gym, freeze afterwards as I try to get into my car all sweaty and cold.  My home gym is a comfortable temperature year round.

As some more bad weather pushing in I’m definitely looking forward to getting outside though.  My kids and I love to ride our bikes, play ball, run, etc.  What do you and your family like to do for outside fun when the weather permits?

Here’s a short list of fun, family activities you can do . . . even if the weather outside is not great:

  1. Ride bikes
  2. go for a hike
  3. play basketball.  My girls and I like to play simple games like HORSE.
  4. play homerun derby.  Its me vs them.  Put down a few bases and they get points when they cross home plate and I get points when they strike out or get tagged out.
  5. Pull them around the yard on something attached to the lawnmower.
  6. Play hide and go seek in the yard
  7. Scavenger Hunt for random objects like leaves or rocks.
  8. Go to a sporting event, it doesn’t have to be professional team.  It can be a local high school game or college game.
  9. Have an outdoor picnic.
  10. Go to a local park and play on the equipment.

As you can probably tell my kids are younger, but even if your kids are older try finding creative ways to get them outside and active.  

Great news from Beachbody!!  Starting March 2nd, Beachbody will be rolling out a new product . . . no it’s not a new workout . . . no it’s not a new supplement . . . It’s BEACHBODY ON DEMAND!  Workout anytime, anywhere from your mobile device, tablet or computer.  I’ve had a chance the last few weeks to try it out and it’s incredible.  Just like a regular program you’ll also receive a nutrition guide, workout guide and other materials all on your devices.  I’ll give you more info in the coming days.

WEEKLY HEALTH TIP: Onions are extremely nutritious, flavorful, versatile and inexpensive.  Not to mention they are sodium free, fat free and cholesterol free!  The onion may also help to prevent chronic diseases including cancer, and also help lower blood pressure and cholesterol levels.  Onions also stimulate immune response and encourage detoxification.
