Weekly Coach Check-In: October 29th, 2013
Hey TeamInternallyFit,

Are you ready?  Are you prepared for it?  You know, international candy day A.K.A. Halloween.  Thursday will begin what I like to call the “eating season”, 2 months, 3 holidays known for stuffing your face with candy and dessert.  It’s hard enough to resist the temptations during the year but when the holidays are all together it makes it even tougher.  However, is this year going to be like the others when you cave and give in to the temptation and decide, “I’ll just work it off after the New Year.”  Don’t let the holidays ruin all the hard work you’ve put in this year.

Here’s my strategy.  On Thursday my family and I will head to a Fall Festival put on by all the local churches and the kids will inevitably stuff their bags with HUGE amounts of candy.  Will I eat any and just say “I’ll just work it off later?”  No.  I plan on eating my usual supper, that way I won’t walk into a temping situation on an empty stomach.  It’s not that I don’t have “cheat meals”, I do, but I like to have them on my time and when I’m in control.  I know my strengths and weaknesses and if I start grabbing a few handfuls of candy, the next thing you know I’ve grabbed multiple handfuls and will spend the rest of the night frustrated that I gave in and ate so much. 

If I eat a good meal and head to the Fall Festival mentally strong, then at the end of the night I will feel great and not have to deal with the guilt or the upset stomach.  I will be proud of myself for saying no and maintaining a strong will power. I challenge you to do the same and prove that when temptations come, that you will prove that you can handle and not cave.
