Have A Plan

Do you find yourself trying to figure out your next workout?  Do you find that you don’t know what to do once you get in the gym?  This was a daily problem for me over the 20 + years I worked out in a local gym.  So, if you don’t know what to do . . . then what do you do?  Well, you buy magazines with workouts guaranteeing incredible results in just 6 weeks or muscle magazines that provide you with the workouts of top bodybuilders that you could only complete if you could spend 8 hours in the gym or the books that show you pictures of workout moves.  To be honest, I bought hundreds of dollars worth of books, magazines or anything else that included some time of workout routine.  I’ve literally tried them all with limited results.  The reasons?  First, those books and magazines are designed by professional bodybuilders and are usually just one routine not a complete workout.  Second, those workout routines rarely, if ever come with a comprehensive nutrition plan.  Without a nutrition plan to follow your weight results will suffer because your body is not getting the proper fuel it needs to rebuild and grow.

After working out in a local gym for over 20 years I decided it was time to try something different, something new, that’s when I started to develope a plan.

Here’s my plan that I used that helped me lose 70 lbs and get in the best shape of my life.

1.) Find a workout program – As I mentioned above I struggled to find what I should be doing everyday in the gym, so I ended up doing the same routines over and over for years.  Not fun!  I didn’t have a plan and I didn’t have a purpose.  Then I found a complete 90 day workout program.  This program not only included a workout routine for 3 months, but it also included a nutrition plan specifically designed for that workout and provided the support I need to get answers to my struggles.  The name of that program was P90X.

2.) Develop a nutrition plan – This is the most important part of any workout program, the nutrition plan.  When 70 to 80 % of your results come from what you eat everyday, you should take the time to focus on it.  The great thing about P90X or any of Beachbody’s workout programs is that they all come with a nutrition plan that is designed for that program.  Follow the nutrition guide laid out for you, complete the workouts everyday and in 90 days you will be a completely new person.

3.) How are you going to handle doubt, fear and frustration? – It’s inevitable when you decide to make a lifestyle change there are going to be set backs.  How will you handle it when those things come.  It’s important that you plan for it.  Don’t forget that If you are on my team (teaminternallyfit) I will be here to help motivate you, give you advice and help you with any struggles.  It’s a proven fact that people who have a support system are twice as likely to reach their goals.

4.) Surround yourself with “Like Minded People”Stay away from negative people!!  I was shocked when I started to lose weight how many negative and jealous people began to criticize me, even in my own family!!!  Some of it is that people see you making progress, feeling great and they know they are not committed enough to do it themselves (misery loves company).  Find people that will encourage you and keep you motivated.  I fought many people in my life and many through Beachbody who would lift me up and keep me accountable.  You don’t have to be mean to negative people, most are just frustrated with their own lack of commitment but surround yourself with people that have similar goals to yours and will build you up, not tear you down.
