Why Wait?

The Waiting Game

“If we wait for the moment when everything, absolutely everything, is ready, we shall never begin.” ~ Ivan Turgenev

Wow! What a great quote, don’t ya think?  When I read it, I immediately thought about all the times that someone said they would join me in a weight loss group, going to the gym  or the time when I thought that I couldn’t start a workout program for what ever reason.  I was too busy making excuses and not taking control of my life.

One thing that I’ve learned over the years is that if you want something, I mean TRULY want something, you won’t wait for everything to be ready.  You’ll have your goal and you’ll decide that now is the time to commit and you will succeed.

You know what happens when you wait?  NOTHING!!  Your body doesn’t change, your health doesn’t change and your attitude doesn’t change when you wait to get fit and healthy.

Make time in your schedule today and reap the benefits of working out NOW!  Think about the list of reasons below why you shouldn’t wait to eat healthier and feel better.

1.) Lose the Regret and Start Today.

With all the workouts you can do at home, with all the resources at our fingertips, what are you waiting for?  At the top of the page are tons of workout programs offered by Beachbody to help you transform your life in just 90 days.  Beginning a workout routine takes a commitment, but I promise its well worth it.  Why go to a gym?  You know how it is, everyone and their mother is at the gym hoping to make this the year they change their lives.  That means that the gym will be crowded, you will be waiting for equipment, and if you are anything like me, more people in the gym = more people to watch you as you learn.  When you workout in the privacy of your own home you don’t have to wait on equipment or have someone see your weaknesses and failures.

2.) Workout time can be YOU time

As a busy parent, I have a million things to do during my typical routine.   Working out allows me 30-90 minutes of where I can prepare my mind and body for the day ahead.  Not only does working out help reduce stress, but it can also help you be better organized.  Our brains need time to process things, and what better time then a scheduled daily workout that is all about you.

3.) Working Out Helps Improve Your Self-esteem

Not only physically as your body changes from your workouts but mentally as well.  While you are waiting and working hard to see results, you mind gets them right away.  When you exercise, your brain increases the output of feel-good chemicals like dopamine, norepinephrine, serotonin, and adrenalin.  So there is no excuse for working out.  If nothing else, you know everyday you have a set amount of time that is just for you and your body WILL thank you.

4.) Be a Role Model For Your Children

I have 2 girls ages 7 and 4 and oh boy they pay attention to everything I do even when I think they aren’t.  I want my kids to see me eating healthy foods and exercising daily because I want them to be healthy and feel as good as I do.  Setting an example starts right now.  Don’t wait their much older and less likely to listen to you.

5.)  We Only Get One Shot At This Life

Just when you think you have a handle on everything, it comes crashing down.  Why are we waiting to get healthy?  What good does waiting do?  Every doctor’s check up or visit they always ask about exercise.  There is a reason for that!  Healthy habits help you live longer and fight disease.  Don’t you want to live a longer and healthier life?  I know I do.  If not for me then for my family.

6.) Sleep, Sleep, Sleep, Sleep

Sleep is probably the most important exercise.  Any parent will tell you, once you have a child you aren’t going to sleep for 18 years.  I notice personally when I am not working out and eating right, I have trouble sleeping.  With insomnia comes weight gain.  With weight gain comes health issues.  With health issues comes lower life expectancy.  You see my point here?  Working out has been proven to help you sleep.  Start today, and help your body fall asleep quicker and make the best use of the limited hours parents have to sleep!

7.) Improve How You Feel Throughout the Entire Day

By fitting in a workout to your daily routine (mine starts at 4:30 A.M. everyday) you will find that you have more endurance during your days.  This will help you be more effective, and ultimately less stressed.  Remember, the more you workout, the better your endurance will be.
